Manchester United are reportedly confident in landing Chelsea forward Willian following his 2018 World Cup exit with Brazil.
Tite’s side were beaten 2-1 by Belgium in the quarter-finals on Friday, which has paved the way for the 29-year-old to focus on his future; something he has openly admitted previously.
Willian has been one of Chelsea’s top performers over his five years at the London club, however, a fall-out with manager Antonio Conte has put his future in serious doubt.
He was seen avoiding celebrations by exiting Wembley Stadium early after Chelsea beat Man United 1-0 in the FA Cup Final in May, heating speculation surrounding a potential summer departure.
And The Sun claim that United now believe they will sign Jose Mourinho’s ‘no. 1 target’ ahead of the 2018-19 season due to the two’s good relationship following success together at Chelsea.
United are said to be competing with La Liga giants Barcelona for the Brazilian’s services and a deal would likely be worth around £60million, with Mourinho believing he’d ‘add an edge’ to his attacking options.
Willian has won the Premier League twice and both the FA Cup and League Cup once during his time at Stamford Bridge, and would certainly boost United’s chances of silverware if he was to make the switch.
