Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Mexico’s 2018 World Cup sensation Hirving Lozano this summer.
The 22-year-old winger impressed throughout the campaign and scored the winning goal as Mexico defeated Germany 1-0 in their Group F opener and helped the nation qualify for the knockout phase ahead of Joachim Low’s men.
Lozano has been considering as a talented prospect for the past few years and was targeted by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City last summer, but the move didn’t materialise.
Now, Italian outlet TUTTOmercatoWEB claim that Man United are lining up a swoop for his services ahead of the 2018-19 season.
United are said to be planning a €40m offer for Lozano and negotiations with PSV Eindhoven are set to begin ‘in the coming days’, on the week some of the squad return to the Aon Training Complex for the start of pre-season training.
Lozano’s glittering reputation was only strengthened throughout the 2017-18 campaign, his first at PSV after signing from CF Pachuca, in which he netted 19 times and provided 11 assists in 34 appearances.
He is capable of playing in any position across the attacking line, however, is most comfortable on the left which is already a heavily-populated area following the arrival of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez in January.
There’s no doubting Lozano’s potential and quality, but is he the right man for United at the moment? That’s debatable.
