Ajax are reportedly still hopeful of reaching an agreement for Manchester United star Daley Blind after initially stepping up their efforts.
The Dutchman hardly featured for Jose Mourinho in the past season, failing to impress as a central defender, left-back or a midfielder.
Though opportunities were tough to come by in the first season the Portuguese was in charge, Blind at least got more than the handful of appearances he made the past year.
There was always no doubt the versatile player would eventually move on from United and it’s his former club who have been keen on reuniting with him.
It’s understood that both the club and player are interested in seeing the transfer through but Mourinho is said to be holding out for more than what Ajax are offering.
According to Manchester Evening News, Nu Sport report that Ajax still hope to reach an agreement for Daley with the transfer fee said to be the holdup.
The 28 year old reported back for duty for the Red Devils’ pre-season tour but he may not quite make the trip to the United States of America if he’s moved on.
Whether it’s Ed Woodward or Jose, there’s someone involved with the club who’s been keen to ensure the club isn’t selling cheap and buying expensive this transfer window.
