Manchester United target and Nice midfielder Jean-Michael-Seri has joined Fulham on a four year deal.
The Ivorian, voted as the best African player in France in 2017, was on the verge of joining Barcelona last summer only for the deal to fall through.
He was touted by both Manchester clubs as well as Liverpool over the 2017/18 season, with Nice set to let him leave for a fee of around £35m.
But Fulham have surprisingly swooped in and completed a deal to sign the midfielder ahead of their return to Premier League football next season.
I’m delighted to announce that @FulhamFC has signed midfielder Jean-Michael Seri from Nice. He’s been at the very top of our target list for a long time. This is a big day for Fulham. For some time Seri was the hottest midfield prospect in Europe. His 2016/17 campaign with Nice was a revelation. The 26-year-old was the centrepiece of a fluid and powerful midfield which served as the platform for an excellent season which saw them finish in third spot in Ligue 1.
But he has since gone under the radar, with United moving for Fred instead during the transfer window. Perhaps his inability to play and train in cold weather due to a toe condition had something to do with the club cooling its interest.
“I have ingrown toenails and when it’s cold I need special treatment,” he admitted in an interview with Goal. “I don’t see myself playing in a country where it’s cold. I hurt everywhere and I struggle to train.
