Luke Shaw has reportedly rejected an offer from Everton as he plans to fight for his place at Manchester United and save his stalling career.

Jose Mourinho is looking to improve his defensive options this summer and views Shaw as surplus to requirements ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Shaw’s career hasn’t really recovered following his devastating injury suffered at PSV Eindhoven in the 2015-16 campaign, and it seems like he’s ran out of lives under Mourinho.

Duncan Castles has claimed in The Times that Shaw wants to fight for his place at Old Trafford though, however, Man United have agreed terms with Juventus left-back Alex Sandro – Shaw’s replacement.

He adds that Shaw wants to leave United on a free transfer once his contract expires in 2019, if his difficult situation at the club doesn’t change.

United have already sealed a deal for one outcast to depart this summer.

Versatile Dutchman Daley Blind is set to return to Ajax, the club he left to move to England in 2014, for €16m which leaves Mourinho’s options at left-back even more bare than they already are.

It’s likely Ashley Young will start the new season as first choice left-back once again, with Matteo Darmian also expected to leave, but it would be surprising if reinforcements weren’t brought in before the transfer window slams shut.
