Manchester United are reportedly chasing a deal for young Ipswich Town defender Dylan Crowe this summer, but face plenty of competition for his services.
Crowe is amongst England’s brightest prospects and has represented the country six times, playing a key role in the Young Lions’ U17 European Championships run to the semi-finals as the host nation earlier this year.
Man United are always looking to improve their already-illustrious academy set-up, and the 17-year-old would act as a fine acquisition for the U18 side going into the 2018-19 season.
The Derbyshire Telegraph claim that United have been joined by Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion, German sides RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach, as well as Portuguese giants Benfica in the chase for Crowe.
They also report that Ipswich have put a professional contract on the table for him but the other clubs interesting in his signature are willing to pay up to £500,000 to snatch him up.
The Anglian side are rightly hesitant to lose another promising starlet after Manchester City lured away striker Ben Knight earlier this summer, but a move to the top-flight could be too tempting to turn down.
Crowe, who predominantly features as a right-back, is thought to be in with a great chance of first team football at Portman Road under Paul Hurst within the next couple of years, which could equally see him remain where he is.
