Manchester United fans were certainly impressed with Andreas Pereira‘s performance vs San Jose Earthquakes as they expressed their delight on Twitter.
The Belgian was out on loan with Valencia last season and has been one of the club’s positives of their pre-season tour in the United States of America so far.
The upcoming season is a crucial one for Pereira who will definitely be hoping to stake a claim in the first team having been on the sidelines for the majority of his United career so far.
There were rumours Jose Mourinho is looking for a young midfielder to provide depth to the starting XI and if the academy product can continue to impress, he could prove to be that man.
Andreas plays with a quality that looks deserving of first team football but it will be a little hard to break into a midfield three made of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and new signing Fred.
Pereira has played a couple of nice forward passes that break the lines. He also likes to get his head up quickly. Obviously preseason is a different matter to proper games but I do like watching him. Looks comfortable.

Andreas Pereira was a rare bright spark during the first half. Seems like his loan at Valencia has done him wonders. I like his Carrick-like composure. Deserves regular game-time next season #mufc

Pereira will be a great squad addition this season. We need depth in midfield to avoid starting Fellaini in a lot of games, really silky on the ball in any midfield role. #mufc

Only been impressed with Pereira so far, to be honest.

Pereira the highlight of that first half. He played very well on tour last year also. It’s about time Jose gave him a shot.

I know it's only pre-season, but we haven't created anything so far, passing is very slow. Martial/Alexis haven't linked up. Shaw doesn't look trustworthy. Only positive is Andreas Pereira, he's looked very confident on the ball. Always trying to make things happen. #mufc

However, if Pereira is willing to stick around this season, he’ll certainly get plenty of minutes and could potentially overtake Matic’s role.
Mourinho. has tried the youngster in the defensive midfield position to see how he’ll do and there’s no doubt he performed admirably there too.
