Joel Pereira will meet with his agent in Miami next week to discuss where he will go on loan for the 2018/19 season.
The youngster has been the club’s third choice keeper since returning from a successful loan spell at Portuguese side Belenenses in January 2017.
Manchester United acquired the services of veteran keeper Lee Grant earlier this month in order to allow Pereira to go on loan once again.
Speaking to MUTV, Pereira – United’s hero in the crazy 9-8 penalty shootout win over AC Milan on Wednesday – revealed he would discuss options with his agent following the Real Madrid game next week.
“Obviously I have been the last 18 months here and the manager shows good faith and trust in me,” he said.
“He wants me to play and he thinks it’s the right thing for me and I will find out next week where I play next season.”
Pereira’s penalty heroics in Carson – he made four saves in total – conveniently put him on the map for potential suitors, although his talent has always been evident to those inside the club.
He is a looming presence between the sticks: superb at set-pieces, calm on the ball, surprisingly athletic and quick to shots for a man of his stature.
A move back to Portugal is likely. He would not look out of place in La Liga either. The most important thing, at the end of it all, is that he plays weekly. Anything less would be a waste of his talent.
