Manchester United target and Chelsea star Willian has recommitted himself to his current club and insisted the former never bid for him.
It was once believed Jose Mourinho was close to signing the Brazilian but it appears that was far from the truth.
The Portuguese manager was said to have wanted to rejoin with his former player as he wished to strengthen United’s right-wing.
Willian would’ve certainly addressed one of the club’s weaknesses but perhaps the interest in him dropped when the Blues couldn’t come to agreement on a transfer fee.
Reports claimed Chelsea always wanted to keep the winger at Stamford Bridge but the player himself was understood to be keen on a move.
According to ESPN, Willian said: “I’m a Chelsea player. I always made it clear that what I wanted was to stay in the club. The only club I knew that really made an official offer for me was Barcelona.
“But I have my head here and I intend to continue in the club unless the club wants to sell me. But my head is here in the club.”
Willian’s comments are pretty interesting as it potentially means the Red Devils were focussed on different targets that were perhaps more prioritised.
Mourinho’s chase for a centre-back has been widely publicised despite the club’s failure to sign one as of yet.
The full-back positions are also a little concerning but have been put on the back burner for now.
