Harry Maguire is reportedly hoping that Manchester United sign him before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow.
British clubs will no longer be able to permanently sign players after 5pm tomorrow evening and Maguire has been regularly linked with a move away from Leicester City following his World Cup exploits over the summer.
The 25-year-old was a crucial fixture in Gareth Southgate’s back three and contributed to the goals as England reached their first semi-final since 1966 in Russia.
His impressive performances led to interest from Man United, and now Sky Sports News report that he wants to move to Old Trafford before the 2018-19 season gets underway this weekend.
Sky claim that Maguire won’t push for a Leicester exit but hopes United push for his signature after the club have already seen two bids rejected, with the most recent one worth £60m.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld and Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng are also said to be interested in playing under Jose Mourinho this term, but Maguire is first-choice.
With just over 24 hours remaining of the transfer window, United fans are becoming restless over whether the club is going to strengthen before Friday’s Premier League opener against Leicester comes around.
It’s hard to see United challenging Manchester City without any new faces, to say the least.
