Leicester City manager Claude Puel has trolled Manchester United following their inability to buy Harry Maguire this summer.
The transfer window has officially shut, closing at 5pm on Thursday meaning the Englishman can no longer leave unless it’s to a club that’s abroad.
Maguire appeared close to a move at various points following his. success in the World Cup but things didn’t quite work out.
United’s need for a new centre-back is hardly a secret and according to reports they chased various players from Toby Alderweireld to Jerome Boateng.
Not only did Jose Mourinho fail to sign Harry but he failed to bring in any new players following the arrivals of Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant.
According to Manchester Evening News, Claude said: “I’m confident he’s going to Manchester United, but only for a couple of hours with us.
“We want to keep our best players for the squad and for the season, we want to keep a good ambition.”
The Red Devils will have to rely on Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly to form a solid partnership in defence in order to make up for the lack of a proven player.
The pair looked in good form in pre-season and it’s now down to them to prove to Jose he doesn’t need to sign a new centre-back.
