Manchester United star Paul Pogba has revealed his true thoughts on Andreas Pereira and Fred, stating the pair did well in the win over Leicester City.
The trio were the heart of Jose Mourinho’s first Premier League side of the season and it’s fair to say fans were impressed with what they saw.
Occasionally Pogba and Fred were sloppy due to their lack of fitness but otherwise the passing combination between the three was excellent.
It was clear to see they complimented each other well and enjoyed playing alongside each other in a midfield three.
Pereira was tasked of being at the base of the triangle and allowed the other two the freedom to express themselves further up the pitch.
According to the club’s official website, Paul said: “Andreas [Pereira] has been playing very well in pre-season, I saw it, and Fred came in and did great.
“I saw the ability and they’re two great players. Andreas is younger but has the quality and the personality to play in the Premier League.
“Fred came in and, for his first game, did great. It’s his first game and you know you have to adapt. It’s not easy. He’s done a great job in the win today.”
It will be interesting to see whether Nemanja Matic can win his spot back from Andreas when he returns from his injury or not.
The Brazilian was in excellent form in pre-season and carried that into last night’s match with even Mourinho being impressed.
If he can keep it up then he surely has a chance at keeping Matic at arms length even if the Serbian is the first choice option in the defensive midfield position.
