Liverpool star Fabinho has denied claims Manchester United ever made an approach for him, contrary to what reports stated had happened over the summer.
Many of the Reds’ fanbase believed the Brazilian had chosen their club of their fierce rivals but he’s since shut down the idea of it.
It was said United were heavily interest in Fabinho, particularly after he had flirted with the club several times publicly over a potential move.
Jose Mourinho had also publicly stated his desire to sign a new central midfielder over the summer but he invested in Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred.
The Red Devils often find themselves in a position of being linked with players from all over the world and are subsequently said to have been turned down without any real evidence of such.
According to Manchester Evening News, Fabinho said to Sky Sports: “Manchester never showed any formal interest, they never made me an offer at all.
“Maybe there was some interest or a conversation but it’s not a case of Monaco not letting me go to Manchester United or denying me the move, nothing ever really materialised.”
As talented as Fabinho is, it’s not a surprise Mourinho wasn’t looking to sign the former AS Monaco man since he claimed Manchester United were interested in Fred for months before completing the transfer.
Perhaps reports of the Portuguese manager beating Manchester City to the Brazilian has more truth to it since Pep Guardiola had publicly declared how he hoped to sign the midfielder.
