Macros Rojo has entered negotiations with Fenerbahce over a season-long loan deal, according to reports from Turkey.
The defender endured another frustratingly injury hit campaign last season, managing just nine league appearances in total.
Rojo was set to be sacrificed in order to make way for a new central defender this summer but no new arrivals arrived before the deadline.
According to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, the Argentine defender looks set to nonetheless depart Old Trafford after entering negotiations with Fenerbahce over a potential loan move this season.
The Turkish transfer deadline for signing players ends on August 31, giving Rojo plenty of time to organise a move away.
Jose Mourinho revealed over pre-season that Rojo had sustained another injury at the World Cup and would remain in Manchester during the entirety of the club’s tour of the United States. He is yet to return to the squad as the season gets underway.
Rojo has often flitted in and out of the squad since 2014 but his current predicament seems more serious, and indeed more final.
Having hardly played since injuring knee ligaments in April 2017 against Anderlecht, you can only imagine him featuring elsewhere for the 2018/19 season – especially if Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly form a solid partnership at the back.
