Paul Merson has predicted Manchester United’s upcoming fixture vs Brighton, believing Jose Mourinho’s side should win.
The Portuguese manager will be hoping for a second consecutive victory in order to keep the momentum in his team.
There has been plenty of doom and gloom over plenty of United’s current ongoings so three points is the perfect way to keep a smile on everyone’s faces.
The Old Trafford hierarchy have butted heads with Mourinho this summer and fans are displeased with the lack of major signings.
Despite all of that, Merson is backing the Red Devils to get a positive result on Sunday afternoon, away from home.
According to Manchester Evening News, Paul said: “Brighton were probably the most disappointing team of the opening weekend if you look at the result and the way they played.
“But they lift their game against teams like Man Utd. This is a difficult game but, if they go out to win, I’ll go for United.”
Manchester United do have some injury issues to contend with but at least a few of their returning World Cup stars are ready for action.
The injuries are relatively easy to deal with, it’s arguably the lack of match-fitness that could seriously hurt Jose’s men.
United managed to beat Leicester City 2-1 on the opening day but struggled as the game wore on due to their fitness levels.
Had Paul Pogba not grabbed a goal within three minutes of the fixture, who knows what could’ve happened with Mourinho potentially looking at a different result.
