Hearts manager Craig Levein believes his side are nearly over the line with signing Manchester United star Demetri Mitchell.
The youngster was out on loan earlier this year with the Scottish club and impressed well enough to earn a spot in the pre-season tour.
Unfortunately he’s been deemed dispensable by Jose Mourinho but only temporarily and he looks set for another loan spell.
Hearts were said to be so pleased with his performances for them that they’re willing to loan him again.
Mitchell was expected to go on loan to a Championship club but suffered an injury that saw those plans put on hold.
According to STV News, Craig said: “We’re nearly over the line with Demi. We need a striker, a left-sided player and a centre-back and if we get that then that’ll be not far away from being it.”
Demetri doesn’t have a spot in United’s squad since they’re overstocked in the two positions he plays in.
If Mitchell remained at Old Trafford, there’s no real pathway to the first-team for him though if he develops enough on his next loan spell, he could potentially take over from Young and fight Shaw for the left-back spot.
