Brazilian footballing legend Ronaldo has publicly advised those who are criticising Jose Mourinho to not speak too soon and labelled the Manchester United manager as ‘special’.
Man United have endured a poor start to the 2018-19 season, losing two of their opening three Premier League matches including a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford last time out, Mourinho’s worst home loss ever,
That has understandably stolen the headlines whilst the front pages are dominated with the United boss’ face which has led to criticism of Mourinho and United at an all-time high.
When asked about the current situation at the club, Real Madrid great Ronaldo explained you shouldn’t judge Mourinho too soon: “I don’t know what’s happening in Manchester, but wait before criticising Mourinho – he’s special and he’s won a lot.”
Mourinho won three trophies in his debut season at the helm but suffered a dry campaign throughout 2017-18 and now sees his side already trailing their Premier League title rivals in points and form.
It’s refreshing to see that legends of the game still recognise Mourinho’s quality as a manager though and it must certainly fill United fans with confidence that he can turn the club’s fortunes around.
United look to avoid three straight defeats against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday.
