Lionel Messi has encouraged Barcelona chiefs to complete the signing of Paul Pogba from Manchester United, according to reports from Spain.
The Frenchman was reportedly subject to an unsuccessful bid worth £45m plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes from Barcelona in the summer.
Pogba has angered supporters by publicly hinting towards a potential move to the Nou Camp in the future. His agent, Mino Raiola, is very keen on forcing through a move.
According to Spanish media outlet OK Diaro, Messi is on board with the idea of signing Pogba, whose relationship with Jose Mourinho and Man United supporters has become increasingly strained.
Barcelona view Pogba as their next big signing but, as the report notes, Financial Fair Play rules could stand in their way over the next year.
One option, however, could be to complete a loan deal in January ahead of pushing a permanent move through in the summer – something Paris Saint Germain did to complete the transfer of Kylian Mbappe.
United will need to hold firm in their resolution to keep Pogba but they may end up powerless if the Frenchman and his agent push for a move away from Old Trafford.
