Manchester United are reportedly set to bid on Atletico Madrid star Lucas Hernandez after he impressed during the World Cup.
The Frenchman was a regular starter for his nation as they successfully won international football’s greatest prize.
Hernandez would represent an improvement in quality but it’s certain that he would cost quite a bit of money.
The link is even more bizarre considering how Shaw has finally gotten back on his path to realising his potential for the club.
According to Sports Mole, Marca report that the Red Devils are willing to trigger Lucas’ £70m release clause in order to sign him.
The type of money being spent on the Atletico star is quite similar to what would’ve been spent on their first choice target Alex Sandro.
The report reeks of Hernandez’s agent attempting to secure his player a better contract since Jose Mourinho is clearly happy with Luke’s performances.
Manchester United would also be better off spending that money elsewhere in more needed departments such as right-wing, centre-back or even a back-up striker to Romelu Lukaku.
