Paul Ince: Manchester United players need to help Jose Mourinho out

Former Manchester United man Paul Ince has called on the players to help Jose Mourinho out of the club’s current situation.

The Portuguese manager has overseen a poor start to the campaign that has already seen them fall seven points from top spot.

United are currently out of any of the European competition positions of the Premier League table and need to embark on a winning run to attempt to compete for the title.

Ince believes things can still happen for Mourinho but he will need the players to help him out if they are to have any kind of successful season.

The former Chelsea boss is at risk of losing his job at Old Trafford with Zinedine Zidane lurking in the background.

According to Goal, Paul said: “Look, I still think he can turn it around. But the players need to deliver. Look at Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba.

“I know they beat Newcastle last week but for me, that has papered over some of the cracks.

“Mourinho needs his players playing for him and they showed they can fight, that they do care. But they have to help him out of this mess.”

Jose’s most difficult task at the moment is to win the players back but the board must also publicly offer their support.

If the players can smell blood and believe he’s on his way out then they will stop playing for him as they have done before.

Nonetheless it’s unlikely Mourinho will go out without a fight and he has one of hell of fixture list to contend with.

United face the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Juventus twice in the upcoming weeks.
