International roundup: Marcus Rashford dazzles in Spain, Alexis Sanchez claims assist for Chile

Marcus Rashford

Confounded his critics with an electric performance in Spain. Combined beautifully with Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling, providing an inch perfect pass for the latter in behind Spain’s defence to set up England’s first before producing a superb run and cool finish past De Gea to double his side’s lead. Worked like a demon all game and caused Spain many problems. Jose Mourinho must be taking note.

David de Gea

The Spaniard has now conceded three times in a game on four occasions this season and he will not have been happy with his performance. Sterling’s first goal was largely unstoppable but he would have hated to see Rashford score past him in a one-on-one situation. Could have been more alive for Sterling’s second as well.

Romelu Lukaku

Scored an impressive brace against Switzerland but was largely ineffective in a drab friendly with the Netherlands, coming off at half time.

Eric Bailly

There was no follow up goal for the Ivorian but he will be pleased at claiming a clean sheet against Central African Republic.

Alexis Sanchez

Produced an energetic, lively performance up front for Chile against Mexico, leading the line with authority and claiming a late assist for Nicolas Castillo.

Fred

Did not feature during Brazil’s 1-0 win over Argentina.

Victor Lindelof

Also left on the bench for a meaningless friendly against Slovakia. Mourinho may want to use his passing ability from the back at Stamford Bridge.

Sergio Romero

Could do nothing to prevent a stoppage time far post header from Miranda
