Pundit Graeme Souness has insisted that the Manchester United players have answered critics with their performance vs Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho’s men drew with the Blues on Saturday afternoon following a dramatic end to the clash.
United had started well before a defensive error allowed their opponents to grab the opener in the first half.
Anthony Martial turned things around by grabbing a superb brace in the second half with many believing it was enough to grab all three points.
Unfortunately for the Red Devils they were forced into sharing the spoils after Ross Barkley capitalised on another mistake and equalised at the death.
According to Manchester Evening News, Souness said: “That team has answered any questions of whether they are playing for Jose Mourinho.”
Manchester United’s superb comeback victory against Newcastle before the international break could be attributed to a mixture of Mourinho’s tactical changes and the players’ shift in mentality.
However, against Chelsea the Portuguese manager didn’t make any tactical tweaks in the second half and it all purely happened due to the players finding their confidence.
When Martial equalised it was almost as though an entirely different XI took to the field as they were relentless against the Blues.
Anyone would’ve taken a draw before the match but given the context of the game, United and their fans felt as though they dropped two points; such was their performance.
