Manchester United have been given the green light to sign Aaron Ramsey for free from Arsenal this summer after the midfielder was told he would not receive a new contract at the Emirates, according to reports.
Ramsey was on Man United’s radar as an exciting 17-year-old prospect playing for Cardiff City, only for the Welsh midfielder to join Arsenal instead.
His contract expires in the summer and has failed to strike an agreement with Arsenal over any new deal, making him available for free in June.
And according to M.E.N‘s Charlotte Duncker, the midfielder has been told he will not receive any new deal and can as a result speak with other potential suitors from January onwards. He has stated a preference to stay in the Premier League owing to having a young family.
United chiefs have been interested in Ramsey for some time but their desire to sign him has increased amid his recent contract disputes with Arsenal.
Ramsey is an extremely gifted player but signing him a year after bringing in Fred, a player of similar qualities, for £52.7m would serve to unnecessarily clog up United’s midfield even further.
