Famous NFL football players who are great around the poker table

Poker is perhaps one of the most played card games in the entire world and many players have been placing wagers and entering tournaments that yield amazing payouts. Poker is quite popular among professional athletes as well and many top NFL players have been seen around the poker tables, working their way to the top of leaderboards for some huge payouts. Many professional players have been seen at land casinos and they are also often found at leading online poker rooms.

While the number of NFL players found at the tables is much smaller than from other sports, some big names have been seen playing their hands and collecting chips. Not many of these players have been seated at major poker tournaments, but there have been a few over the years that have taken a liking to poker and have engaged in tournament action or even charity poker events. Here, we take a look at some of the pro players that have been seen in the poker circuit and who have enjoyed some great poker payouts.

Despite the limited number of pro players that are seen at poker tables, many players do engage in some form of online gambling. With great online casinos like Casumo.com being offered, a number of MFL players do hit the tables in their downtime and have walked away with some hefty payouts.

Emmit Smith

Smith is an all time rushing leader who played for the Dallas Cowboys. He has been seen playing poker at several tournaments and he represented Full Tilt Poker. Smith has also played in multiple charity events and in 2010, he landed a seat at the World Series of Poker main event, however, was quickly eliminated. Smith is a three-time Super Bowl Champ and also a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He can still be found playing at online poker rooms and occasionally visiting some of the top rated online casinos.

Richard Seymour

While not too make football players make it to main events, Seymour has taken quite a liking to the professional poker circuit. As a player for the Patriots for 12 seasons, Seymour has now become someone to watch for at the poker tables. He has won more than $139,000 in tournament winnings and has been seen at the WSOP and Mid-Stakes Poker Tour. His best finish in a major poker event was 18th when he was in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, where he walked away with over $52,000 in winnings.

Sammy Watkins

Watkins is another NFL star to look for at the poker tables and in 2016, he actually skipped the offseason workouts for the Bills and instead took time to post pictures of himself playing poker at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino in NC. Watkins has entered many local poker tournaments and can often be seen at local casinos, taking a seat at the action-packed poker tables.

Calais Campbell

When it comes for ex-pro players from the NFL who love poker, Campbell is a name that has become quite familiar among poker fans. He ended his football career with the Arizona Cardinals and went on to become one of the most successful poker players from the NFL. He came in 3rd at an event at the Venetian Casino, wining $2,600 and then went on to enter the 2016 World Series of Poker where he played in a $1,000 Top-Up Turbo No Limit Hold’em event. While he hasn’t won any major events, he is still a name to watch for at top poker tournaments in the US.
