Both Milenkovic and Andersen play in the Serie A and have been key players for their respective teams so far this season over in Italy.
Milenkovic, 21, has started all 12 of Fiorentina’s Serie A games this season and is a full international with Serbia having played for them at the 2018 FIFA World Cup out in Russia.
As for Andersen, 22, just like Milenkovic he has started all 12 of Sampdoria’s games in the league and he is a full international with Denmark.
Jose Mourinho’s pursuit of a new centre-back was very public in the summer, as was the club’s decision to veto his moves for Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld. It was a decision which has certainly hurt United’s season so far given how many goals we are conceding on a weekly basis but that could well be resolved in January.
Looking to Serie A to sign a new centre-back wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world either. When you think of Italian football, you think of defending. Like Joga Bonito football in Brazil, defending is the natural game for Italians and my how United need a natural defensive leader at the heart of our defence.
Whether it’s Milan Skriniar, Milenkovic or Andersen, I just want to see United sign an established defender who can transform our leaky defence and by the sounds of it Mourinho is keen to bring somebody in this January.
