Manchester United fans are conflicted about which central defender their club should sign over the summer transfer window.
The club unsuccessfully sought to acquire another defender over the summer, making approaches for Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld.
Recent reports state that Man United’s ‘dream’ signing, in the eyes of Ed Woodward, would be Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, with a more likely being Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.
And so, as we like to do, the question was put to supporters on Twitter: which one would you rather have?

There were a number of shouts for Koulibaly, whose performances in Serie A since 2017 have caught the eye of several European suitors. Many see him as the realistic option.
Koulabaily. Why would Verane leave Real Madrid anyways? Would be a summer distraction just for him to up his payday at Madrid. This is why we need a DoF.

Koulibaly. Less injury prone and his style of play is more suited to the premier league

At the same time, it is clear that Varane’s pedigree – a World Cup and Champions League winner aged 25 – takes precedence for a lot of supporters, although the idea of Real letting him go to United is somewhat utopian.
Varane all day long he’s a beast and still young

Varane all day long!

As a player, Varane. He’s proved himself to be up there for an extended period of time. But I don’t think it’s realistic.

Either way, there is a consensus forming across all parties: United must make signing a partner for Victor Lindelof their priority in the summer.
