Romelu Lukaku to be replaced by one of two Serie A attackers: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku is reportedly going to be replaced by one of two Serie A attackers.

The Belgian has failed to build on a prolific first season at the club and now with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring Marcus Rashford in the striker role, he could be set to depart.

The Norwegian has installed a more forward thinking, mobile style to United’s play which hasn’t gotten the best out of Lukaku yet.

Rashford is a constant, willing runner whose movement has seen him preferred to the proven goalscorer.

The former Everton man has mainly been used off the bench and with reports that Solskjaer will remain as manager growing, his future seems bleak.

According to Mirror Football, the Red Devils are willing to sell Romelu, with the player said to be ‘not against’ the idea, and replace him with either one of Paulo Dybala or Mauro Icardi.

The 25 year old is a victim of Jose Mourinho’s age as he was seemingly forced into being turned into a target-man.

Lukaku has visibly put on weight over the summer and has struggled as such with Ole’s fast United.

The former Chelsea man’s powerful stature was used by Mourinho who often asked his player to use his hold-up play instead of making runs in behind.

Should Romelu shed the excess weight and find his mobility once more then he may yet have a future at Old Trafford.
