Manchester United are reportedly on red alert for Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti as they continue their hunt for a top centre-back.
Manchester City are also said to be keen on the Frenchman and there’s no doubt top clubs around Europe will be lining up to win him over.
Umtiti was part of the Les Bleus’ side that won the World Cup last summer with many expecting his career to advance even further.
However, the defender has struggled with injuries this season which has meant he’s hardly featured for Barcelona.
United have been on the lookout for a centre-back since last summer and the former Lyon man could represent the ideal signing.
According to Calcio Mercato, the Sun report that Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for Umtiti as they are keen on replacing him with Ajax wonder-kid Matthijs de Ligt.
Since this transfer is only likely to happen based on another transfer happening, the Red Devils would do well to not heavily rely on it as their main option.
The club’s fans have often spoken of their preference to sign ready-made and proven centre-back Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly as their first-choice.
Ajax’s De Ligt has also been purred over, especially after his performances in the Champions League during their historic win over Real Madrid.
