Manchester United supporters worried by prospect of Ander Herrera joining Paris Saint Germain

Manchester United supporters have reacted furiously to the prospect of Ander Herrera joining Paris Saint Germain for free this summer.

Spanish outlet Marca and French outlet RMC claimed on Thursday night that Herrera, whose contract at Old Trafford runs out in June, was in discussions with the French champions over a summer transfer.

Man United supporters, who have a close connection with the passionate midfielder, reacted strongly to the suggestion of seeing the club’s de facto captain leaving for Paris.

Thankfully, though, these fears are unjustified. On Friday morning, both ESPN and Manchester Evening News reported that while there was interest from PSG, no talks had been established, with Herrera committed instead to agreeing a new contract at United before June.

Talks regarding a new contract have been underway since last summer and Herrera has been free to speak with other clubs since January. But there is a strong feeling among those at United and in the Herrera camp that an agreement will be reached.

The club must know that selling Herrera – for free as well! – would reap miserable consequences on the pitch (United already need to replace Marouane Fellaini in midfield) and leave supporters furious to say the least.
