Paris Saint Germain keen to sign Ander Herrera but player wants new Manchester United deal – report

by Leo Nieboer

Manchester United supporters were given a scare when both Marca and RMC Sport reported on Thursday night that Ander Herrera was in discussions with Paris Saint Germain.

The Spaniard is out of contract at Old Trafford in June and has been in talks with the club since last summer.

But according to ESPN, in a report on Friday morning, while there is interest from PSG, the player remains committed to signing a new deal with Man United, whose supporters have a adopted the Spaniard as one of their own, such is Herrera’s love and understanding of the badge.

This report has been corroborated by Liam Corless of M.E.N, who writes that Herrera has no intention of swapping Manchester for Paris.

The two clubs, who had never played each other until this season, have found themselves intertwined in the media ever since that dramatic Marcus Rashford winner at the Parc des Princes. Their president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is angry at Patrice Evra for *looks at cards* something he said on social media, while midfielder Adrien Rabiot, ostracised by Thomas Tuchel, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

This latest installment of news probably stems from the same spurious oak tree of media buzz surrounding the two clubs. There is also a strong chance Herrera’s agents have pushed this rumour in order to gain traction in negotiations, which have become a protracted affair.

Either way, there is no chance of Herrera leaving United this summer. The club will know securing his services on a long-term basis is vital.
