Dimitar Berbatov shuts down Paul Pogba to Real Madrid rumours

Former Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov has shut down the possibility of Paul Pogba moving to Real Madrid after reports surfaced of the potential transfer.

The Frenchman stirred the pot by admitting the Spanish side were a dream team to join, particularly with Zinedine Zidane now back at the helm.

His comments have seen reports emerge from all over the world claiming he’s now bound for a move to Madrid.

Berbatov though insists United fans have nothing to worry about, suggesting the reports are all just speculation.

Pogba has stated he’s happy at Old Trafford but his comments have enraged supporters nonetheless.

According to Squawka, Dimitar said: “Paul Pogba is rarely too far away from the headlines but I’m not concerned about his Real Madrid quotes this week.

“I supported lots of other teams when I played for United because I was a fan of good football. I admired clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich.

“I don’t think there is anything to worry about here. We live in a world where you can say what you want and I can imagine the words being taken out of context.

“Paul will be a United player for a long time, as long as he and the club want to be together.”

Pogba’s flirting with other clubs was previously understandable given what he was going through before under Jose Mourinho’s management.

It’s clear the Portuguese made the academy product his scapegoat for the poor third season he was experiencing.

However, now given Paul’s incredible form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it was believed he had no reason to depart.

Fans were hoping the former Juventus man would be handed the captain’s armband next season after Antonio Valencia‘s departure but now some are even calling for him to be sold.

There’s a possibility Pogba’s comments were taken out of context or misinterpreted but supporters are clearly unhappy of having to constantly question where his loyalties are.
