Manchester United plan to bring in competition for Diogo Dalot: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United are reportedly planning on bringing in competition for Diogo Dalot as they step up their efforts to sort out their right-back spot for next season.

Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian are all the senior options for the full-back position but their futures at the club are unclear.

The Ecuadorian is said to be on his way out after not being handed a renewal to his current deal that expires this summer.

However, now that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the permanent manager of United he may opt to hold onto him.

Darmian is widely expected to leave but that has been the case for a few transfer windows now while Young has been the first-choice right-back all season long.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are eyeing up a £35m bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka to provide competition for Diogo as Valencia and Darmian no longer have a future at the club.

The Portuguese is expected to make the right-back berth his own for the next decade but he will have to earn the right to do so.

Manchester United previously had two youngsters fighting for the same position in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford and that worked out quite well.
