Darren Fletcher: Manchester United must eradicate silly mistakes

Darren Fletcher has called on his former side Manchester United to eradicate silly errors out of their game as the race for a top four spot heats up.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men took a huge blow to their aspirations after losing 2-1 to Wolves on Tuesday evening.

United had opened the scoring through Scott McTominay after dominating the early exchanges but soon conceded.

Ashley Young‘s sending off meant his side were vulnerable and Wolves took advantage of that to pull ahead.

Fletcher feels the Red Devils were the better performers but simply made too many silly mistakes they could’ve avoided.

Wolves had also knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup, proving themselves to be worthy advisories.

Solskjaer was without key players Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford though he also opted to rest Nemanja Matic for McTominay.

Fred and Diogo Dalot were also given chances to impress whilst Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard were given minutes as they attempt to recover from their injuries.

The Brazilian actually played impressively until he was given perhaps a poorly timed pass from David de Gea, though his loose touch allowed Wolves in to equalise.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man was soon substituted off the pitch after Young’s sending off but it had nothing to do with his error.
