Manchester United vs Barcelona: Confirmed starting XI

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United are set to face off against Barcelona without key players Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera.

Both players are suffering with injuries which has forced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hand in terms of his selection.

United are expected to play on the counter-attack despite playing at home due to Barcelona’s quality.

It’s arguably more important for Solskjaer’s men to keep a clean-sheet than it is to score as they could save the goals for the second-leg.

Every goal the Red Devils would score at the Camp Nou would count as double thanks to the away goal rule.

It appears Ole’s gone for his usual backline with Diogo Dalot expected to play as a winger.

The Norwegian has previously played Ashley Young as a centre-back and the Portuguese as a right-back but that experiment didn’t end too well.

Scott McTominay and Fred need to pull off another Champions League miracle after their heroic performances vs PSG.

Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford have started to show signs of a positive partnership brewing and that may be put to the test vs an in-form Barcelona.

The world’s eyes will be fixed firmly on Paul Pogba in terms of the Manchester United players so hopefully he can step up in such a crucial fixture.
