Manchester United targeting Idrissa Gueye to replace Ander Herrera: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United are reportedly considering buying Everton’s Idrissa Gueye as a replacement for Ander Herrera.

The Spaniard’s current contract expires this summer and there doesn’t appear to be any end in sight in terms of a new deal being concluded.

This has left Herrera linked with moves to Arsenal and PSG and United are said to be unwilling to pay the wages he’s seeking.

Gueye has been a key player for Everton so a move for him would likely be a bit of a struggle.

Some sections of supporters have been calling for more marquee signings so they may be a little disappointed if this transfer happens.

According to the Evening Standard, Ander is set to sign for PSG for free this summer so the Red Devils have made £30m valued Idrissa their priority midfield signing.

Out of all the reported players Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keen on investing in, the Everton man is arguably the most bizarre.

Gueye is 29 years old, the same age as Herrera, so it makes no sense to replace one ageing player with another that has to be bought for quite a fee.

Manchester United have been linked with younger, more talented individuals such as Declan Rice or Ruben Neves.
