Napoli refuse to sell Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly

by Marwan Harraz

Napoli don’t feel a need to sell Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly according to their manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have made the Senegalese his top centre-back target for the summer so it is a blow to the club’s ambitions.

United’s need for a top defender has not been a secret with fans calling for a quality signing for several seasons now.

Koulibaly is widely regarded to be amongst the best centre-backs in the world at the moment so it’s no real surprise to see him linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Ancelotti is naturally defensive over losing one of his best players but insists the board don’t wish to sell either.

According to Caught Offside, Carlo said: “The best centre-back in the world? I would say so. And he can still improve. He is worth €150m and he is not available for transfer.

“Koulibaly’s contract expires in 2023, in 2021 there’s a €150m clause but Napoli do not need to sell, the president [Aurelio De Laurentiis] does not want to sell and the question doesn’t come up.”

Napoli are definitely the party in a strong position but that could all change if Kalidou pushes for a move.

So far the centre-back has been respectful of his current club and hasn’t hinted at any potential transfers.

Koulibaly may be more tempted with a move to Manchester United if they qualify for the Champions League next season.

Given how Solskjaer’s men are struggling to do so at the moment and Napoli are the closest to challenging Juventus’ dominance, it’s understandable why the 27 year old may be hesitant.
