Luke Shaw set to return ahead of Manchester City derby

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United are set to receive a much needed boost ahead of their derby with Manchester City with Luke Shaw set to return.

The Englishman has had his most consistent season in the famous red shirt and his absence from the starting XI has been felt.

Marcos Rojo, Diogo Dalot and Ashley Young have all attempted to fill in for him but have fallen short of his standards.

Shaw had initially struggled with either injuries or fitness since arriving at United but it’s fair to say he’s now enjoyed his breakthrough year.

It’s a little unfortunate that it’s come at a time of upheaval with Jose Mourinho departing and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coming to grips with the size of the task ahead of him.

According to the club’s official website, Luke is set to return having served his two match suspension following the ten yellow cards he picked up in the Premier League.

With City at their free-flowing best, having the former Southampton man’s solidity back will be much needed.

Manchester United shipped four to Everton on Sunday with fans increasingly concerned over how many their neighbours could potentially score.

Phil Jones has also picked up a knock over the weekend so Shaw’s return means Solskjaer won’t have to play anyone out of position to fill in.
