Liverpool may foil Manchester United plan for Ryan Sessegnon: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United may have their best opportunity for a defensive reinforcement in Ryan Sessegnon foiled according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are said to be keen on investing in the full-back positions and the Englishman has emerged as a target.

With Fulham tumbling back down to the Championship, it’s believed signing the youngster won’t cost as much anymore.

Sessegnon represents the kind of signing Solskjaer hopes to make- he’s young, full of potential and can slot into the first-team right away.

United’s need for a full-back on either side is well known despite Luke Shaw winning the player of the year.

According to the Express, although the Red Devils have made contact with Ryan, the player himself is a boyhood Liverpool fan and is more open to a move to Anfield.

Though it’s bad news, it’s not necessarily game over for Solskjaer as their fierce rivals are already well stocked defensively.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are considered by some to be the best full-back pairing in the league and it would be tough to dismantle either of them.

Manchester United meanwhile could do with an upgrade on Luke Shaw who, despite being a decent option, has failed to reach to full extent of his potential.
