Manchester United ‘close’ to sealing deal for Thomas Meunier: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United are reportedly close to signing PSG star Thomas Meunier, potentially in an effort to resolve their right-back woes.

The Belgian has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for quite some time but reports have grown recently due to current circumstances.

The full-back hasn’t been playing as often as he’d like for the French champions while United have struggled defensively this season.

Meunier would definitely be an upgrade on Ashley Young and with Antonio Valencia departing the club, there’s plenty room for him to arrive.

The former Club Brugge man could be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice next season and could potentially mentor upcoming star Diogo Dalot.

According to the Express, DH.Be report that the Red Devils could purchase Thomas for £22m, beating Arsenal to the punch and potentially making him their first signing of the summer.

The London club are said to have missed out due to the defender’s love for Manchester United which certainly would’ve made the deal easy.

Meunier would essentially be a bargain buy in today’s market and Solskjaer would be able to get several years out of him before having to move him on.

However, some fans feel the reports have only surfaced in a bid to push Crystal Palace to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka for less than their inflated asking price.
