by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United will reportedly press on with their interest in Newcastle United star Sean Longstaff after Ole Gunnar Solksjaer made his wishes clear.

The Norwegian has adopted a transfer policy of investing in youth having signed Daniel James earlier in the summer and Aaron Wan-Bissaka said to be all but confirmed.

It appears he desires to continue this strategy with his midfield as well as he chases Longstaff’s signature in what can only be considered as a crucial transfer window.

The 21 year old would add depth to United’s engine room and provide competition for the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira and Nemanja Matic.

Questions will be raised over what the potential signing means for the futures of the Scotsman and Belgian in particular as Solskjaer continues to overhaul his squad.

According to the BBC, Ole is keen on Sean despite Newcastle’s reluctance to sell and the player himself suggesting he will remain with his current side.

It will be interesting to see whether the Red Devils can convince the midfielder to part ways with his club and join the former striker’s new project at Old Trafford.

Fans were concerned with the departure of Ander Herrera so bringing in Longstaff is a start in regards to improving Manchester United’s midfield.
