Alexis Sanchez can thrive with Bruno Fernandes in Man United midfield

by Adam Inn

Despite signing two players, Manchester United are still keen on bolstering their otherwise strong squad and it appears that Portuguese midfield sensation Bruno Fernandes would become their latest signing.

The agent of the midfielder has arrived England ahead of talks for the players potential move. This followed from rife claims that Manchester United had offered £31million to Sporting Lisbon to sign him, according to Daily Express.

His barnstorming display in the Premeira Liga last season is very well documented by a host of clubs in Europe. Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham have all been linked with a move for the 24-year-old midfielder but the Red Devils are believed to be front-runners to sign him.

Coming off last season with 18 assists and 33 goals despite playing from the middle of the pack for Sporting, he would be a huge threat to any defence in the World. Although United conceded goals with reckless abandon last season, part of their undoing was the lack of cohesion between the midfield and attack.

United relied on the likes of Anthony Martial, Jessy Lingard, Juan Mata and Alexis Sanchez to complement the efforts of the midfielders. Alas, it was the aforementioned Chilean winger that received the most tongue lashes for his poor form given his experience, and bogus wage bill. Betting will become easier for the fans if he can find form.

Sanchez joined Manchester United from Arsenal in 2018 with the pedigree of proven winger but his form has left so much to be desired. A return of three goals in 32 cameos for United in the Premier League has got the fans divided in opinion over his quality.

While at Arsenal, his partnership with Mesut Ozil gelled to the extent he ended the 2016/17 season with 24 goals in the League with as much as 11 assists. Ozil plays with finesse and he’s more of the artful type of second striker but Sanchez was always utilising his passes with his infectious hunger, and desire that he seem to lack at United

According to the Daily Mirror, during the period in which they played together, the duo scored or contributed 102 of the club’s 191 goals, a staggering 53.4%.

Sanchez has proven to be a top quality winger if he is fed by an inch-perfect passer of the ball, and that’s one attribute he would benefit when Bruno Fernandes finally joins.

The Portuguese midfielder is comfortable playing as an Orthodox number 10 or behind the striker in a three man midfield. His biggest strength is his ability to use both feet or score goals, he can retain possession and he can pick perfect passes for players that running behind defenders likes Sanchez.

United have a plethora of midfielders but they are basically very defensive minded. With his skills and nature, Fernandes will combine well with the wingers and feed them with his inch-perfect passes.

Should Man United get the deal for him, he has the ability, like Ozil, to bring out the best in Sanchez and the other attackers of United.
