Andreas Pereira has been pictured in high spirits after penning a new contract with Manchester United which keeps him at the club until 2023.

The Brazilian, who impressed during loan spells at Granada and Valencia between 2016 and 2018, was handed a chance to impress in a Man United shirt last season.

He made 22 appearances in total and displayed moments of serious promise – most notably his performance in a 3-2 win over Southampton during which he turned the game with an explosive midfield performance and a fantastic curling long-range goal.

Pereira was pictured alongside Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after signing a four-year deal at Old Trafford with the option of extending for another year.

Pereira’s attitude to challenging himself is impeccable and he fits the age range for Solskjaer’s wider rebuilding job at the club – especially as a midfielder.

With Nemanja Matic entering the end of his career, Paul Pogba likely to leave next summer, along with the pair Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini leaving this year, there is a genuine chance for Pereira to become an important part of a new United midfield cast in Solskjaer’s image.

Moreover, the new deal does, of course, serve to protect Pereira’s resale value should the club decide to sell him next summer.
