Southampton star Mario Lemina may not be on his way to Manchester United after all with reports seemingly conflicting one another in the matter of hours.
The midfielder emerged as a surprise target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s and according to initial reports, it appeared to be a transfer that could easily happen.
After all, the 25 year old has publicly stated a desire to leave, he was left out of his team’s pre-season tour and United’s only rivals for his signature were Arsenal and Leicester City.
It seemed difficult to imagine this transfer getting out of hand but it’s quickly been proven that Lemina will join a long list candidates involved in summer drama.
Southampton were also understood to be open for business as they hoped to recoup the estimated £18m they spent on the former Juventus man.
According to The Times, the Red Devils were given permission to speak to Mario but according to the Evening Standard, senior sources at Old Trafford dismissed links to him despite all the current noise.
Only time will tell what report is proven true but given fans lukewarm reaction to the rumours, they won’t be too concerned whether the transfer does or doesn’t happen.
