Manchester United’s first signing of the summer Daniel James has admitted it’s still surreal the amount of fans the club has.

The winger joined from Swansea earlier in the transfer window and made his debut during the first pre-season friendly against Perth Glory.

Despite only playing 45 minutes the Welshman was named man of the match with fans quickly warming up to his style of play.

James’ incredible pace, direct attacking and tireless work-rate has already endeared him to the United supporters.

The 21 year old has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past year or so of his career and it’s clear to see he is in awe over his new club.

According to Sky Sports, Daniel said: “Walking out there, with the amount of fans that have come from everywhere is surreal, really. Playing with those players is a dream come true.

“Walking out at Old Trafford is the big one. That is when it will probably sink in.

“But the amount of fans that came to training shows the support this club has got. The amount of fans that turned up tonight (Saturday) from all over is just amazing.”

Hopefully James isn’t overawed and can quickly settle in to his new surroundings in order to make an impact as soon as possible.

Manchester United can no longer afford to carry any passengers in what is an incredibly important season as they look to secure Champions League football.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is tasked with getting the best out of Daniel and given how he can play in multiple positions, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

The former Swansea man’s versatility should see him notch up plenty of minutes in his debut season.
