Manchester United are reportedly set to make a €55m bid for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes as they step up their efforts to invest in their midfield.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been chasing the Portuguese’s signature all summer long but it appears the two clubs are finally ready to end the transfer saga.
Even before the pair left the club, many felt Solskjaer’s engine room needed improvement with just Paul Pogba the standout player.
Fernandes represents a significant improvement on the former striker’s options but negotiations were previously believed to be at a standstill.
According to Sport Witness, A Bola report that Sporting’s president wants €70m though it’s expected both clubs will give in a little so that negotiations can reach a fruitful conclusion.
It’s likely the Portuguese club will also want a swift end to talks as they will want to find a replacement quickly as well.
Both sides probably preferred a deal happening before pre-season began but unfortunately that didn’t happen.
Bruno would likely slot right into United’s starting XI and his firepower from midfield would be an invaluable asset to the squad.
