Manchester United have reportedly given up on their pursuit of Harry Maguire after becoming frustrated with Leicester City and so have turned their attentions to Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti.
The talented Englishman has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main target for the whole summer and it appears he won’t be able to secure the transfer.
The Foxes have stuck to their guns in terms of negotiations and have refused to settle for less than their asking price.
United have also refused to pay more than what they value Maguire at and so both clubs have been at a standstill for a while.
Umtiti has previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford and that old fire has now been reignited.
According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils’ have tried to see whether a deal for the World Cup winner is possible as they attempt to identify other targets, seemingly moving on from interest in Harry.
It seems a strange time to now move on to other targets with such little time left in the summer transfer window.
The issue is how the club only now seem to be sounding out other candidates when they should’ve already known who their back up options were.
