Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms Paul Pogba is fit for Chelsea clash

by Leo Nieboer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Paul Pogba was not injured ahead of Manchester United’s opening Premier League clash with Chelsea on Sunday.

The Frenchman was unable to take part in Man United’s 2-2 draw with AC Milan in Cardiff after suffering a back spasm in training.

Man United have also lost Eric Bailly to injury, with the defender sustaining a knee injury which will keep him sidelined for five months.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Solskjaer confirmed that, while Bailly’s condition was ‘bad’, Pogba was absolutely fine.

The Frenchman’s opposite number on Sunday, N’Golo Kante, is also fit for the game despite having to leave the club’s pre-season tour early due to a knee problem. That promises to be a key contest.

The only other notable absentee for United is Alexis Sanchez, who returned late to training from the Copa America and has not played a minute of pre-season, rendering him highly unlikely to feature over the weekend.
