Manchester United fans had every right to be pleased with their players’ performances after they absolutely battered Chelsea 4-0 in their opening fixture of the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were a little shaky and nervous at the start of the match but grew in confidence once Marcus Rashford converted his penalty.
From then on it was somewhat smooth sailing with Chelsea only threatening at moments.
Rashford grabbed a brace with Anthony Martial and Daniel James grabbing the other two goals to complete a thoroughly top performance.
As good a win as it was, United fans will be weary their players’ form doesn’t dip terribly as it did last season.
That is the best #mufc performance I’ve seen for a long, long time. AWB was flawless and Maguire was colossal. Martial and Rashford didn’t stop working and being able to see what United are trying to do for once is amazing.
Want us to play again tomorrow.

Thoughts on 4-0 win vs Chelsea:
– Wan-Bissaka was superb
– Maguire and Lindelof solid
– James scoring on his debut
– Lingard and Pereira offered nothing
– 2 assists for Pogba
– We were sloppy in possession at times
– We love a clean sheet
– 3 big points

A clean sheet
Three impressive debuts
Our number 9 scoring on his return
Daniel James scoring on his debut
Rashford with two goals
Pogba with two assists
What. A. Day. 🔥

That whole game was very very similar to the old United.
At old Trafford teams got space, created chances..but we would fly over to the other side..and u wouldn't know what hit you.#mufc

In the end of the day it was just three points and the Red Devils will have to keep up their good performances in order to see themselves finish in a more respectable position than last season.
However, fans will rightfully enjoy this win, not only because of the way it was achieved but also because it’s difficult to remember the last time their club routed a top six team in a similar manner.
If the players put in the same kind of commitment, drive and hunger as they did today in every game, Manchester United will be just fine.
