Alexis Sanchez determined to leave Manchester United this month – report

by Leo Nieboer

Alexis Sanchez wants to leave Manchester United before the European transfer window ends on September 2, according to a report.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having sold off Romelu Lukaku, is set on using a fluid front three comprising of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, with Daniel James and academy star Mason Greenwood playing a supporting role.

The Norwegian therefore does not see Sanchez receiving much game time after the Chilean endured a miserable 2018-19 campaign during which he scored just twice.

According to the Times‘ Paul Hirst, the forward has resolved to find a new club before the end of the month after it became clear that he would not receive many minutes this season.

Sanchez has not joined up with the United squad yet after receiving an extended break following the Copa America, where he picked up another injury.

You would be forgiven for forgetting that Sanchez actually plays for this club, such is the 30-year-old’s inability to, firstly, stay fit, and secondly, to command a presence on the pitch. Only on maybe two or three occasions has both happened.

United’s wage bill and Sanchez’s overall wellbeing would be drastically benefitted by the two parties parting ways, forever. Supporters will hope that it happens this month rather than next year.
