Manchester United star David de Gea is reportedly on the brink of extending his time at the club after relentless negotiations appear to have come to a close.
The sensational Spaniard has been embroiled in talks over a new deal for quite some time now with fans even slowly losing faith that he’ll stay beyond the current campaign.
De Gea’s original contract expires next summer with the likes of Juventus and PSG lining up to sign him for free.
Foreign clubs would be allowed to open talks as early as January but it seems United will finally put an end to all the transfer rumours.
There were even reports emerging that the club had began to prepare for a potential departure by targeting a move for Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as his replacement.
According to the Guardian, De Gea is finally close to agreeing a new deal that will see his wages rise to around £290k a week with expectations being he will sign soon.
Manchester United fans will certainly be relieved as there’s no doubt replacing the former Atletico Madrid man would be incredibly difficult.
There have been question marks over De Gea’s form but his form last dropped when there was uncertainty over his future so hopefully a happy conclusion will see him return to his world-class best.
